Relaxing for a Season

You may have heard but the decision was made for the magazine I write for, Tirzah, to close. There were many factors and I was a part of that decision process. I truly believe God used Tirzah to bless a lot of people. The time I spent there gave me a true love of writing. As I wrote and edited articles, I found my niche within the writing world.

What is that niche? It’s storytelling. My greatest strength is learning. When I am learning something new, I am at my best. It’s also when I’m most joyful. Whether it’s opening the Bible (obviously my favorite) or sitting in a classroom. I became a social worker because I knew I would always learn something new. Every time I get a new client, I hear a new story. Many times I connect them with someone else who needs to hear their story.

This is my niche. Sharing stories of the world. Stories of the cultures, people, organizations, and businesses. For the next month, I will be taking a break and relaxing. During this time, I will be assembling stories of people and nonprofits I have met on my journey. On January 11, 2018, I will be launching my own website/magazine (!

I am very excited about this opportunity. Since I finished graduate school, I have wandered around states and countries! Encountered amazing people doing amazing things. Connected with over 200 people from around Southeastern Wisconsin, all who work in the world of helping others. In the world of Tirzah, I have met many brave individuals who told their stories. This magazine is a chance for me to share their stories. Throughout the month, there will be features on how the worlds of social justice and mental health intertwine with the Bible. Follow my Facebook page: Unofficial: Alycia Marie. The website itself is up but only with my old blog posts.

I can’t wait for y’all to see all the articles:) I’ve got the first two months lined up right now and am very excited to announce that I already have my first guest! Also, I want to give a shout out to Yelena from Tirzah for her inspiring me to take the next steps to do this. God had laid this magazine on my heart and Yelena was the first to jump onboard. She walked me through all of the processes and has been a great cheerleader along the way! As always, if you feel called to do something, do it. You miss 100% of the chances you don’t take. There’s also a lot of blessings you miss out on. Enjoy your holidays and I can’t wait to be back with you on January 11, 2018!
